Account & Spotify privacy.

SME stores your name, email, contact phone number, account type and activity needed to provide your profile, applications, orders, tickets and Empire Points. Your phone number is contact information; it is not SMS-verified and is not published on artist profiles.

SME listening charts

We use a browser cookie to count qualifying plays and limit repeat counts. Listening records use hashed browser and daily network identifiers, are retained for up to 15 days, and are shown only as aggregate chart counts. Plays count after 30 seconds, once per song per browser per day. This is a browser-based count, not a count of unique people.

Guest contributions

You can support an artist without signing up. A private cookie keeps access to your guest contribution status on this browser for 30 days. SME stores the selected artist, amount and payment evidence for manual verification. Guest contributions do not earn Empire Points. Clearing the cookie removes browser access to that history; contact SME with your payment reference for help.

Spotify connection

Spotify sign-in uses Supabase authentication to connect your Spotify identity to an SME account. We request your email for account sign-in. No follow or listening points are awarded. A Spotify access token may be held in your authenticated browser session; SME does not add it to public profiles or the points ledger.

Spotify players are supplied by Spotify and are subject to Spotify’s own privacy settings and playback availability. Signing into SME does not guarantee full Spotify playback.

Your choices

You can use email sign-in without connecting Spotify. Revoke SME access from Spotify account apps, then log out of SME to clear the local authenticated session. Manage follows directly in Spotify. Revoking access does not erase your independent SME purchase history.

To request access, correction or deletion of your SME account information, contact SME Help Centre. Transaction records may need to be retained to complete orders, resolve disputes or meet applicable recordkeeping requirements.
